Ray Snyder joined the military and was sent to school to be placed on the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan Project was the group responsible for learning about and testing the military’s new devastating weapon, the atomic bomb. Mr. Synder was in the Marshall Islands when some of the first tests were done detonating an Atomic Bomb, 500 feet under the water and 500 feet over the water. Positioned 25 miles away from the blasts, Mr. Snyder gives us a first-hand account of what happened, how they did their tests, and what they learned.
